How This Works
For Online Tutoring
Hubbel’s 23rd Anniversary: The Horsehead Nebula, 13 hundred light-years away in the constellation Orion.
1) You have decided what class
A consultation meeting has taken place, and you're enrolled.
2) You have scheduled your session
When you schedule a session, a link from the scheduler will be sent to accept the online meeting.
3) Before the session begins
Make sure you have the necessary technology. The ideal situation is a computer laptop, desktop, or Apple iPad/Microsoft Surface. It helps for accuracy if you have the appropriate pen or connected mouse for your screen. You can also use a separate graphics board connected to your desktop or notebook. In summary, the ideal session would be to have one screen for visual and audio and another device for writing on the whiteboard.
4) You will receive a password to enter the whiteboard
You will receive an email with a password to enter this website's “whiteboard” tab. I use a proprietary service that provides a visual meeting platform and whiteboard.
5) How the meeting works:
Interact and Communicate
The tutoring session occurs via the online classroom video software.
Share the Interactive Whiteboard
We write and draw with the digital pen or mouse on the tablet surface, and our writing appears on the computer screen via the online whiteboard. To access the interactive whiteboard, you will use the credentials sent to you and input your username and password, which will be emailed to you before the meeting. If you do not have a graphics tablet, you can ask questions via the shared video/chat built into the whiteboard.
Just Like the Classroom
We use the digital tablet to write on an interactive whiteboard program. The tablet and whiteboard let us write on the same “page,” just like sitting side by side and writing on the same piece of paper during an in-person tutoring session. The whiteboard lets us see what the other person is writing in real-time.
Technical Issues
Technical issues occur, especially when you are first starting. Most of this is due to a poor internet connection. You can reduce the chance of this happening by making sure your wifi is working correctly. Also, ensure that there are no other video games or streaming devices in your room or other places during the lesson. Furthermore, you should readjust your screen saver time to over 1 hour, preferably 2, and readjust any power-saving modes on your device.
